Rose Carfora,90, longtime resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut, beloved wife of 59 years to the late Vincent J. Carfora, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
Born in Bridgeport on February 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Gioacchino and Maria (Cura) Bruno. She was a communicant at St. Margaret’s Shrine, served on the Woman’s Guild and volunteered in the church community.
Her passions were cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She catered for many parties on the weekends. On Sunday mornings we woke to the aroma of her delicious gravy (sauce). Sundays were devoted to family.
She was employed at Ann’s Home Bakery and Fairfield Prep. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Rose is survived by her loving children; Maryanne Hedman and husband Robert, Carol Marini and husband Pete all of Orange, a son, Carl Carfora of Bridgeport, her grandchildren; Cyndi Brantley and husband Clayton of Georgia, Robert Hedman and wife Anna of Shelton, Erik Hedman of Trumbull, Peter Marini of Trumbull, Alyssa Shields and husband Matthew of Milford and Alexandra Marini of Orange, her great grandchildren; Fowler, Larsen and Carlsen Brantley all of Georgia and Lia Shields of Milford, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Janis Mary Carfora, her brothers; Carmen and Anthony Bruno and a sister, Anne Genova.
Words cannot express our gratitude for the love care and support given to mom and our family by the entire staff at Connecticut Hospice, North Branford. She will be fondly remembered by her kind heart, strength and her dedication and the love for our Lord Jesus.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport and at 12:00 p.m. in St. Margaret’s Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport with a mass of the Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
