Obituary: Joan Ann Attolino, 88, Beloved Mother, Grandmother

Joan Ann Vincent Attolino, 88, of Orange, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, with family by her side. She was born in Bridgeport, on Friday, December 27, 1935, one of two children of the late Joseph and Anna Vincent.

She was the beloved wife of the late James V. Attolino, her husband of 51 years, who predeceased her in September 2010. She was also predeceased by her brother Robert.

She is survived by her five sons, James of Milford, Timothy and his wife Patrice, of Milford, Mark of Milford, David and his wife Karin, of Orange, and Jeffrey of Milford. She has nine grandchildren – Lindsey and Dylan (daughter and son of James), Timothy and Katie (son and daughter of Timothy and Patrice), Zachary (and wife Allison), Alexandra and Gabrielle (son and daughters of Mark), and David and Matthew (sons of David and Karin). She has 3 great-grandchildren Gaia, Jude, and Indira Woods – daughters and son of Alexandra and Matt Woods.

After graduating from Laurelton Hall, she attended Saint Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in the Emergency room at Milford Hospital and then became a Visiting Nurse in the City of Bridgeport. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and cherished her trips to Italy with Jim. She was a member of Mill River Country Club enjoyed golfing with friends and still played in the Women’s nine-hole league at The Orchards, well into her Eighties. She also enjoyed watching UCONN Basketball, but Nana’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 23, at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Church, 70 Gulf St. Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will be private.
