Francis C. Makula, 78, beloved husband of Dorothy Bush Brangi Makula of Branford, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Fran was born in Hartford, November 9, 1937, son of the late Charles R. Makula and Margaret Garofolo Makula Engert.
Fran was a 1959 graduate of St. Michael’s College in Vermont, and was named alumnus of the year by the college in 1979. He worked for many years in the public relations department for SNET, and he and his wife owned a travel agency, “Goin’ Places” in Branford for many years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Gregory (Susan) Makula of Guilford, F. Scott (Tracie) Makula of Ellington and Krystyn (Bill) Hastings-Silver of Avon; his step-children, Kathy (Bob) Gavigan of Branford and Michael (AnneMarie) Brangi of Orange; his brother, Ronald (Alayne) Makula of Georgia and 10 grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital for all the treatment they gave Francis over the years.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday morning at 10:00 in St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Branford.
