Nicole Dannenhoffer DeVito 29, of Bethany beloved daughter of Nancy DeVito of Bethany and Thomas Dannenhoffer of Branford passed away on May 15, 2015 at her home.
Sister of Matthew Dannenhoffer of Bethany. Granddaughter of Vito DeVito of Orange and the late Mary Palmieri DeVito and Andre Dannenhoffer of Milford and the late Carol Pilla Dannenhoffer. Also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nicole was a 2003 graduate of Amity High School and 2008 graduate of Newbury College and received her master’s degree in 2013 from Northeastern University. At the time of her death Nicole was the owner of Nicole’s Paws and Pets.

Josephine Papa, 87, of Hamden, died at CT Hospice, May 14, 2015.
Josephine was born in New Haven, July 29, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Mary Ruggiero Papa, graduated from St. Agnes College in West Hartford and was past Secretary and Treasurer of St. Agnes Alumni Ass’n.
She worked in St. Raphael Hospital Newborn Nursery prior to opening her own day care center in Hamden, retiring after 35 years.
She is survived by two nephews, Richard (Heather) Papa and Michael (Michele) Papa, all from Orange, 4 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Louis Richard Papa.

Saundra “Sandie” Gelfand, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at her home, after a short and extremely courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Bridgeport on May 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Esther Levinson.
Sandie was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and Behavior Modification instructor.
She was a longtime member of Congregation Beth El in Fairfield and a volunteer at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield.
Sandie enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends, and was an avid Mahjong and bingo enthusiast as well as a UCONN Women’s basketball fan.
Survivors include her children, Richard Gelfand and his wife, Marybeth, of Shelton; Patti Hollander and her husband, Seth, of Orange; adored grandchildren, Jamie Gelfand of Shelton and her fiancé, Rob Osso, and Jacob and Evan Hollander of Orange; brother-in-law Marvin Gelfand and his wife, Joann, of Easton; and numerous cousins, nieces and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cy, sister Ann and brother Ory.
Her family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of the VNS of Connecticut. Also special gratitide to Sandie’s great-niece, Elizabeth Brackert, and her live-in aide, Naja Bland. Naja became a member of the family and cared for Sandie above and beyond what everyone could have imagined.

Theodore N. “Bud” DiDonato, 78, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2015, at Bridgeport Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Helene S. Quinn DiDonato.
Ted was born in Ansonia on Oct. 9, 1936, son of the late Theodore and Julia Sabetta DiDonato. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was the former owner of Hillcrest Fuel in Ansonia and proudly served the community for more than 60 years, until he turned the reigns over to his son Matthew.
He served in the U.S. National Guard and enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling to Maine and Cape Cod.
In addition to his wife Helene, he is survived by sons, Theodore N. DiDonato of Ansonia and Matthew DiDonato (Carole) of Orange, cherished grandchildren, Peter J. DiDonato and Sandra J. DiDonato of Orange and Julia D. DiDonato of Ansonia, sisters, Arlene Varsane and Marie Tinari of FL and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen (“Marion”) Leydon Troy, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 24, 2015.
She was the beloved wife of the late Augustine (“Gus”) C. Troy and devoted daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Joseph and Mary Ellen (Cullen) Leydon. Gus first laid eyes on Marion in St. John’s Church, where they both attended daily Lenten mass. Upon learning they had mutual friends, he asked to be introduced to her. Theirs was truly a match made in heaven, and they spent 42 happy years together until Gus died in 1995.
Marion was born in Chicago on January 21, 1930, and was a longtime Stamford resident until moving to Orange in 2012 to live with her daughter, Loretta.
She was a 1948 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, a faithful communicant at St. Cecilia Church for 58 years, a member of Shorehaven Golf Club for more than 30 years, and a dedicated member of the New Canaan Country School staff for almost 20 years. She was always cheerful, had a nice word for everyone, and made friends easily and everywhere.
Marion and Gus loved life and hosted many Fourth of July, St. Patrick’s Day, and New Year’s Eve parties that always included singing around the piano. She celebrated life right up until the end, when she injured herself dancing at a St. Patrick’s Day party. She never fully recovered, and her Alzheimer’s disease progressed quickly from that point on. She had a wonderful life and she went out dancing!
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Loretta Leydon, brother Joseph Leydon, son-in-law Doug Pirc, and daughter-in-law Sarah Troy.
She is survived by her children Patrick Troy, Mary Ellen Troy, Brian Troy, Loretta Pirc and Ginger Troy; grandchildren Christopher Pirc (Emily), Brian Troy (Sofia), Cameron Pierce (Blair), Jennifer Troy, and Carolyn Pirc; siblings Rita Griffin and Jack Leydon (Barbara); and many nieces and nephews.
She was the loving, caring, kind, smart and funny matriarch of our family. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Rosaline C. Kirby, 95, of Hilton Head Island passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2015 in the Preston Healthcare Center.
She was born to Joseph and Angelina Rose Money on September 16, 1919, and raised in Bridgeport, CT. She graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport.
She and her husband Donald resided in Orange, Ct before retiring to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1982.
As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking especially on holidays and other special occasions. She also enjoyed decorating, was an avid reader, and an accomplished bridge player.
Rosaline will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by her nieces and caregivers Mary McIntyre and Teresa Camarro.
She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
Rosaline was predeceased by her husband Donald Kirby, six brothers and five sisters.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Andrew Antalik, 68, of Milford, CT peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 surrounded by the love of his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Antalik; his daughter, Eileen Antalik of Milford, CT; his daughter Christine Antalik of West Haven, CT; his son, Michael Edward (Jennifer) Antalik of Orange, CT; and his two dearly loved grandchildren, Elizabeth Joan and Timothy Andrew Antalik.
Born on April 20, 1947 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Andrew Leo and Mary Posh Antalik and brother to the late Carol Aliberti. In addition to being survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and grandpup, he is also survived by his brothers Richard and Ronald Antalik, and numerous nieces and nephews.
“Rusty”, as he was known since childhood by his family and friends, proudly dedicated 22 years of service to the City of Milford in the Public Works Department as a painter. He remained a tireless and dedicated employee throughout the length of his illness and could often be seen painting the landmarks of the city he served so well.
Rusty was a dedicated husband and father. As “Gramps”, he thoroughly loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and taught them to love the wonderful World of Disney as much as he and his wife did. His legacy of hard work and family dedication will live on through his children and grandchildren.

Martha Bloom Shapiro, 107, of Newport News passed away peacefully on June 13 at the James River Convalescent Center.
She was the widow of Charles Shapiro, daughter of the late Leba and Joseph Bloom, and is survived by her two loving sons, Joseph Shapiro (Marjorie) of Orange, CT and Robert Shapiro (Larry Hill) of Hampton, VA. Beloved grandmother of Corey Shapiro (Ashlee Bergin) of Chicago, IL, Jordan Shapiro (Ashley Brokaw Shapiro) of Brooklyn, NY, and Greg Shapiro (Johanna) of New York, NY, Martha also leaves great grandchildren Helena, Grey, and Noah, loving family friend, Lee Richardson of Newport News, and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was predeceased by her cherished sister, Lena Sherr.
A lifetime active member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, Martha was also the long time executive secretary of the Peninsula Jewish Community Center.

Chrissie Eisensmith, 91, a resident of Maplewood Assisted Living Facility in Orange and formerly of West Haven, CT, passed away on June 4, 2015.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Eisensmith, her sister, Jean Curley and survived by her four children, Terry Eisensmith of Boca Raton, FL and Guilford, CT, Keith Eisensmith of East Haven, Carol Baia of West Haven and James Eisensmith of Madison.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three nieces and four nephews.
Chrissie was born on January 26, 1924 in Stanley England, the daughter of Jane and James Pogson.
During World War II she served with the British Royal Air Force and was stationed in Northern England. It was during the War that she met and married Charles Eisensmith who was serving with the medical staff in the U.S. Army Air corps.
After the War they moved to West Haven, CT where they raised their family. They were both active in the VFW, Post 1684 for many years.
A private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.

Joseph L. DeAngelo, Sr., 91, formerly of Hamden and West Haven died peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Hartford Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of the late Vera Gallo DeAngelo. Joe was born in New Haven on September 9, 1923, a son of the late Frank and Florence DeAngelo, and had resided in Hamden for most of his life, and West Haven for the past seven years.
He was a pressman for the New Haven Register for twenty years, retiring in 1988. Joe was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and participated in campaigns in both the Pacific and Atlantic theatres.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda (David) Howard of West Haven, two sons, Joseph (Sally) DeAngelo of Maine, and Robert (Janice) DeAngelo of Northford, a sister, Ann Marie DeAngelo, and a brother Philip DeAngelo of New Haven, seven grandchildren Jonathan (Christine) DeAngelo of Cromwell, Loren (Daniel) Fiasconaro of Hamden, James Barbato, Jr. of Worcester, MA, Joshua Barbato of West Haven, Sheri (David) Roby of Naugatuck, and Rachel and Morgan Howard of Orange, one great granddaughter Paige Marie Roby, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Bellucci.

Molly (Levine) Swirsky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21st, 2015, at home, with great family support and with her husband by her side.
She was the daughter of Minnie and Jacob Levine, and lived her entire life in the greater Bridgeport/New Haven area.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert Swirsky, her children, Debby and Tom Swirsky-Sacchetti, and Mindy Swirsky Hart, and her grandchildren Benjamin Sacchetti, Jenna Swirsky-Sacchetti, and Michael Hart, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Molly was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and great aunt. She worked alongside her husband for many years in their business, Bob’s Prep Shop, as office manager for the David Masnik Wholesale Liquor Company before her marriage, and as a bookkeeper later in life for Jiffy Printing Company and M.A. Selmon and Company.
Molly was an active, lifelong member of Women’s American ORT, and a member of Congregation Temple Beth Sholom in Stratford, CT until it closed several years ago.

James P. Daniel, 88, New Haven Firefighter (ret) of Orange, passed away June 25, 2015 at Mary Wade Home.
He was the husband of the late Eugenia (Jean) Pappas Daniel. Born in New Haven Feb. 21, 1927, he was the son of the late Peter and Efthalia Daniel.
He was appointed to the New Haven Fire Dept. in 1951 and retired in 1987 after 36 years of service as a firefighter and fire inspector.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the latter stages of World War II.

Mr. Daniel is survived by one son, Peter G. Joanne (Bakes) Bulkley, 82, of Worcester, MASS, formerly of Holden passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015.
Her husband, John M. Bulkley died in 2001. Born in Larchmont, NY, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Neofotistos) Bakes, Joanne graduated from Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for more than 45 years at numerous medical facilities that included the UMASS Medical Center, Providence House, and the Lutheran Day Health Center.
Joanne was a devoted and faithful member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral for 45 years. She will be remembered for the positive energy she shared with her family and friends. She was a selfless, loving, and compassionate mother and grandmother, who was devoted to her family.
She leaves two daughters, Barbra A. Guiliotis and her husband, Gregg of Orange, Ct.; and Ann E. Bulkley-Armour and her husband, Michael of Shrewsbury; a son, David M. Bulkley of Westborough; two brothers, George Bakes of Boca Raton, FL, and Nicholas Bakes and his wife, Patricia of Hamden, Ct.; a sister, Patricia Loskant and her husband, Robert of Monroe, Ct.; two granddaughters, Kathryn E. and Grace A.
